PowerShell – Yet another Sysinternals download script

Today I completed the Microsoft Virtual Academy Advanced Tools & Scripting with PowerShell 3.0 Jump Start course. If you haven’t looked at it yet, I realy recommend you do so, lots of good stuff there. So for the purpose of applying some of the stuff I’ve learned there regarding the use of -Whatif and -verbose messages i wrote the below script which downloads the sysinternals tools.  

How to use vbscripts in BGINFO

Out of the box BGINFO includes a number of predefined fields that can be used to display information on the desktop such as Computer name, IP Address etc. But if the standard fields aren’t enough,BGINFO allows creating custom fields that can pull data from various sources like WMI, Registry, File content, Environment variables or VBScript. Organize your desktop

Sysinternals published a new nice utility called Desktops. Not that this is something we haven’t seen before, but like all the tools from sysinternals it’s all nicely packaged into one executable. It’s definitely worth a try. Thanks Tobi for the hint 🙂
