An insight on error 404

Today we were at my oldest son football club year end party where someone told me a story about the meaning of the number 404,  when you try to connect to a web site page that does not exist, you usually get an error 404 message. The number 404 is related to a room number at the CERN this person told me.

It just needed a Google search on “History of 404” to find a page that seems to be fully dedicated to Error 404. The “room number” story seems to be just a myth, according to the 404 Research Lab, no such room number exists at the CERN.

Read more about the History of 404. And just for those who didn’t know yet, the world wide web was created by Tim Berners-Lee who worked for the CERN in Geneva Switzerland.
