How to RDP from a Mac to Windows

A friend of mine, an ultimate Mac user had recently bought a Windows PC to run an application not available on Mac. He asked me how he could remotely connect from his Mac to a Windows PC. I have little experience with Mac computers, but being interested in anything about IT, I remembered having seen something about a Remote Desktop client on the Office for Mac website.

Once installed you can easily connect to a remote Windows client.

  1. Buying a Windows machine to run a Windows application is a surprising decision these days. OS X has two good virtualiztion platforms, Paralelles and VMWare Fusion; either of these will run Windows well. The Mac needs enough RAM, but the addition memory (if needed) and the software are a lot cheaper than a computer. That said RDP from the Mac works just fine.
